Dr. Chiasson is a 1995 graduate of the University of Waterloo School of Optometry. He graduated with honours and is the recipient of the Bausch & Lomb excellence in contact lens award winner. His training includes a rigorous rotation at the JFK hospital in Philadelphia. He is a member of both the Ontario Association of Optometrists and the Canadian Association of Optometrists. He is also a member of the Clinical Practice Panel of the Quality Assurance Committee of the College of Optometrists of Ontario.
Dr. Chiasson has participated in studies for contact lenses and contact lens solutions and has consulted with corporations on eye care topics. He actively co-manages patients for laser, cataract, and other surgical procedures. He has appeared on television and in print media discussing vision and ocular health.
Dr. Chiasson is trained in managing and diagnosing conditions such as red eyes, cataracts, macular degeneration, glaucoma, corneal, retinal and optic nerve pathology, uveitis, as well as ocular complications associated with diabetes, hypertension and other systemic conditions. He is also certified in topical and oral therapeutic agents.
One area that Dr. Chiasson enjoys is educating his patients and the community. He speaks to local community groups on topics concerning eye care, including presentations at the Diabetes Management Centre, and at a presentation on eye care topics for physicians at the Trillium Health Centre. He also co-founded and co-hosted a podcast produced for other optometrists regarding topics in eye care.
Dr. Chiasson enjoys golf, hockey, skiing, and reading. He lives in Toronto with his wife and two active sons.
